The Social Suncoast Linux Users Group is comprised primarily of Suncoast Linux Users Group (SLUG) members, who have a penchant for alcoholic libation. These folk meet monthly to partake in adult revelry, with like minded individuals and couples. These gatherings are free from the usual bonds of hardware and software which, as anyone who attends a regular Linux Users Group meeting should expect, pervade the regular SLUG meetings. The object of these meetings is to draw Linux users together socially, under the commonality of "geekery" and good humor. Although many participants are from Sarasota, many others travel from Tampa, Orlando, Bradenton and Venice, to enjoy the monthly festivities.
While on line, most participants frequent the IRC channel #sslug, found on the back water servers of irc.shadowworld.net, where they enjoy relative tranquility. There, many laid back discussions, featuring beer, lunch, current events, local happenings, Linux and computing in general, occur. Even though our topics endure many vicissitudes, the main focus of these discussions is beer, beer, sex, food, beer, wine, whiskey, good local bars/restaurants and Linux regalia. While most members are inordinately well versed in the intricacies of Linux and will have no qualms answering your Linux oriented questions, in the aforementioned channel, your best bet, for a serious answer to your Linux vexation, is to first pose your perplexity in #slug.fl, found in irc.freenode.net.
Feel free to idle or lurk in the channel. Do not feel free to troll. Trollery is met with unmitigated harshness and rigor in #sslug.
